The Actors Roll.

“Acting is not about being someone different. It’s finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there.” - Meryl Streep

I was one night, deep diving on youtube (like I do most days!) When I started watched videos about actors and performing on a stage, this is a deep love of mine, as before I discovered my love for art, I was a performer and loved theatre- still do! These videos made me think about what the performers role really is . (This all connects to photography I promise!)

I thought about how the only person the actor is guaranteed to have an affect on, is themselves.

They have no way of truly impacting the audience/viewer, for they may feel in a unique way than to another person. I believe it is the actors duty to make an impact on themselves with the role they’re playing, and put that out into the audience or world to hopefully make a connection with someone. It is not their obligation to make anyone feel, but to stir something inside themselves.

                                                                   –0-o-0–

I truly feel that this is my role as a photography or creator, to create solely for myself, to make something stir inside of me, and put that out into the world with the hopes of a connection to someone out there.

How often do we really consider how what we do will impact US? How will our voice impact us as the creator? How will that then translate to those sitting in the metaphorical audience and impact them? Can we affect that or do we create what feels right to us?

“Actors in any capacity, artists of any stripe, are inspired by their curiosity, by their desire to explore all quarters of life, in light and in dark, and reflect what they find in their work. Artists instinctively want to reflect humanity, their own and each other’s, in all its intermittent virtue and vitality, frailty and fallibility.”
