“Our beautiful demise will be of flowers

wilted and left for hours

from the fog of poisoned breath

that came from your lies of death

full of once loved, now abandoned life

cut down by your broken knife.”

Our Beautiful Demise speaks about personal fears, and the demise of what we are usually so comfortable with. Throughout the series, we see a breaking down of what held each character together, through imagery to represent the demise of self, perfection, normality, identity, control, consistency, position, comfort, memory, pain, past and fear.

I use natural elements such as decay, moss, bones, and taxidermy on myself and models. Through this series, we get to interpret these elements in new ways, finding the artistry and charm in these natural processes. You may call disturbing the presence of such elements but I may see it as an opportunity to find beauty. Even darkness and decay have an element of beauty dwelling in their shadows. After all, to become stronger we need to face our fears, to give them shape, and break down the stigma behind feeling weak.

This series has come from the need to conquer personal fears, to relieve myself from their weight over the everyday: closure. Sharing my work with like-minded people is a way to communicate and belong to something larger than myself. I hope to connect with souls who feel weighed down by their fears, having this work be a catalyst to embracing said fears.
